I am a figurative painter originally from a small town in the Netherlands, currently based in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn. My work moves between still life, landscape, and portrait. For me, subject matter is secondary. Whether it's a lemon, a face, or a tree, in the end it all comes down to abstract shapes on canvas.

I often find myself questioning what realism really is. We like to think we see and paint "reality," but every painting is just a frozen moment of perception. It is a mix of observation, emotion, and interpretation.

I don’t aim to explain everything through words. Good painting, I believe, should do most of the talking. Still, I paint because I have to. Because it’s the one constant in my life that never leaves, even when my focus shifts or the world feels uncertain.

My work is rooted in looking closely: at light, at form, at fleeting moments. You are invited to look too, and take from it what you will.
